    310 Question

    Can one use a set of pistol dies in a "large" handle?

    I have a "large" aluminum handle with 45-70 dies and adapter. I was wondering if I could use the small dies for pistol cartridges with it?

    I have used my 38 super dies in the large handles. Shorter cartridge dies may not thread in far enough to to be usable.

    Some listings for die sets used to say they could be used with either type handle. I think you will probably run into difficulty when you try your dies in calibers such as 9 mm, 380, 32 S&W and other short cases. I'm going to say flatly, you won't be able to load 32 or 25 ACP with large handles. OTOH, I would be pretty optimistic about 45 Colt, 357 Mag, etc.

    I’ll give the 357 dies a try tonight. I believe I have a full set of dies with the adapter
