She had about 5 weaned 40-50# ones with her. They are good eating for sure but they left in a hurry...... call me wasteful but 80 degrees at 6:30 in the morning & I had to get to work. The buzzards and bugs can have her. Sometimes we'll give trapped ones away but we have a no survivor policy on pigs. If you see a pig on our place and don't attempt to kill it you will get the hairy eye.

A few years back a friend from here on the site used a swaged .416 cal. bullet in his .416 Taylor on Florida armadillios. He said they just don`t hold together when that 350 gr. bullet hits them!Robert

2 or 3 of the shoats were female and will be bred prolly before year's end. The sow you shot was prolly already bred too. Get a semi-auto! Nice job

Here in Missouri they have outlawed hog hunting just because of this situation. (Although I am not sure I agree with it.) Its like brush hogging down locust trees. Cut one down and you get 25 more from the roots. Shoot one hog and you produce 25 more in its place. On the locust trees I have come to the conclusion that you have to cut the tree down and apply Tordon to kill the roots. To all of them. As for the hogs, you have to bait in the entire group and then trap them all and eliminate the entire group at one time. And have a really large hog roast!

    Good morning
Keep those rifles handy fellers! It sure is satisfying knowing you are doing a fine public service in an enjoyable way.
I wonder if someone was to hang some hide strips up on fence posts if those porkies would take notice not to venture onto that area. Hanging a blackbird in a cherry tree will give notice to the other cousins to stay away.

Derek, the best backstop is another pig! You can hunt them successfully and unsuccessfully depends entirely on right place right time. They are unpatternable (I love making up words) as can be. Just always have a rifle ready is the best advice. ARs sound good in theory but they scatter so fast it kinda doesn't matter. They run to the nearest cover asap.

I'm still pretty new at this, I'd wager if I saw any in my subdivision or on my 'land' it'd be slingshot range . I'll make it out to Sam Houston next year for deer season I hope.
