All this has done is to make me want a .50 something! I wish .50 B'wolf barrels were not so expensive. Maybe I'll reline a 12 ga. Topper to .50-70. I've let my .50 muzzleloaders go, I'm switching to .54 there to match my pistol.

    Good morning
We shoot a 50-95 with a 350 grainer. With a case of 3F that 40-1 FN cast is chugging along at 1460fps. A 30 pound 10" gong at 300 yards gets smacked with enough force to make it swing back near horizontal. Off cross sticks an easy target with that heavy 1876 repro.
That load is easily duplicated (velocity) with 5744 and near as accurate with the same 40-1 cast.
That is what I would use. FN 350 grainer cast of 40-1 at 1450 fps. Lots of smokeless rifle powders will get it there.

I killed a pair two years ago with an AR Beowulf using Alexander Arms non fragnible factory load . They were flat point well as I can remember and they did an ok job . I made handloads for the gun using Hornady rubber tipped bullets but as of yet none of us have plunked a deer with them . To be honest I'm
Not quite sure I wanna run cast thru any of the AR platforms at my disposal but that's just me .
