    reloder 22

Anyone use reloder 22 with cast?

I see a recipe in the lee manual for 180 grain bullets and rx22 for the 30-06
that give good velocity at lower pressures.

Would like to develop a 170 grain cast load at 2200 fps for deer.

    Reloder 22

I've never used R-22 with cast and don't think I would try myself. I do use a lot of R-22 in j bullet loads and in my experience it excels with close to or max loads, groups really tighten up as you approach max. I do use it in 30-06, even though it may be a touch slow for the cartridge and have good luck with a compressed charge with 180 grain partitions, but they're running at 2800 fps or so, much slower than that and they don't group nearly as well. The powder really kicks butt in a few larger cased magnum loads and I love in the 25-06 and 270 also, but loaded hot.
    Good Luck
