    500 Linebaugh!!!!

i've got it!!!! it came to me from a brown truck with yellow letters.

now the tc encore has its own 500 linebaugh. its a 23" MGM heavy factory barrel that is matte finished. it is a 1 in 28" twist. i'm going to a 450gr(weighed about 460gr) lfn gc from montana bullets. the 500L also has Skinner sights, both front and back. right now i have unique and 2400, but next month i'll order some hs-6. i wish(boy do i ever!!!) that 500L goes at least about 1200fps+/- .

my distance should be around 100-125 yards, but it will be an in-close rifle. that means 50 yards should be the most i get out of her. but if you know me, a 100 yards should be dead on. i'll have to find out what load, but it will be +2-3" at 50 yards and -8-10" at 125 yards(i think, but i don't know).

the yorkie queen buttons says "the 500L need to be bigger."

That is pretty nice. I would very interested to know the velocity from that 23" inch barrel for the .500 Linebaugh.
And how the recoil is on that Encore.
Please give a range report and lots of data and pictures. Been wanting an encore pretty bad. A 23" inch MGM .500 Linebaugh barrel on it would make it even better.

I have a similar rig in .500S&W. It do jump around a bit when you touch one off! I was shooting the Lee 440 grain GC boolit at about 1400 fps and wisely downloaded to 350 grain custom boolit at 1200 fps to save my remaining dental fillings. I do love a .50 caliber rifle! So far the Piney woods rooters have been safe, but their time is comming! Lyman's .50-70 Gov't loads seem to be manageable recoil and both accurate and effective based on my wet newspaper experiments. No need to go "full-bore." Let the half-inch, one ounce lead slug do all the work.

All you need to do is re-chamber it to 50 EX and then you would be able to reach the 100 mark much easier.

td, thank you for that confession. It always makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one who killed a trophy chronograph. It was rather amazing what a 520 gr. bullet ahead of 120 grs. of BP did to that little yellow Chrony....at 10 ft.

Did the Chrony survive long enough to clock itself going down range?
