How much smoke with Ben's red?

I have made a batch of Ben's Red and used it to lube 9mm, 38/357, and 40 S&W. I was shooting my 9mm, (358-125-RF), lubed with BR, and loaded with HP-38 and after a half dozen or so shots I had to give the smoke time to clear. I don't get as much smoke with HP-38 and plated bullets.

I realize there is going to be some extra smoke from lube, but I wonder if its more than normal and if I did do something wrong when I made the lube?

If you get tired of the smoke give my TAC 1 or TAC X a try, it was made with low smoke in mind..

The ingredients in Ben's Red are not made to burn and when they do they smoke..Sometimes it is the mixture of certain powders and heat/humidity that produce smoke. It is a very good lube though..Sometimes you can alleviate some smoke by changing powders.

You ain't seen smoke until you've been to a muzzle loading shoot..Cough cough wait for the breeze to carry the smoke away, oh there's the shooting line
