Just curious, I have not bought a new mold this year. Just getting wiggy.

I was lucky and I was outside when I was delivered and I signed for the mold.

My correct pins showed up yesterday. Hope to cast a few this weekend.

I got mine and cleaned it up and filled the pot. I ended up turning the temp to about 740. The boolits came out filled and clean. Nice mold.
MiHec should offer blank pins to make solid boolits. Just an idea for the future.

I still have not received my missing pins. I hope that I get them soon.

Awesome post Lakehouse! Please tell me/us, what method did you use to stop amd comtain the boolits? Did you shoot yours from a rifle?
I casted and loaded a few yesterday and Im itching to try them out.

I finally spent some time over my pot and casted some of these beautys. I ran a 4 cavity and casted 2 large HP and 2 of the penta HP boolits. My pentas came out 181gr and the large HP came out 179gr. My alloy was 50/50 tape weight and clip weights.
Unfortunately Ill be nose sizing this boolit also to fit my GP100 and my S&W 686+
Theres just too much bearing surface ahead of the crimp groove to seat in the cylinder chambers.

Very interested in what media you used, a few of those look pretty obturated while that one looks flattened.

Sorry guys for the delay in response, work gets in the way sometimes...
I casted hard lead that i measured 16 brinell and then soft at 7.6. I used a 55 gallon steel drum with water to catch everything and i was a bit concerned after my 9mm trials that there wasnt enough depth to catch, so i floated a 3/8" piece of lap siding (OSB, so it was very dense). I didnt fill the drum all the way up, but will this weekend when i test again. Next i want to test some casted with the penta using exact same powder charges.... ill post a pic of the drum next and then Saturday ill post results of penta.
Oh yeah- i was using a 3" GP100 as you can see in pic. Did it vertical inside garage, put a deck 9 ft over barrel and didnt even get wet... lol

Good deal, thank you Lakehouse. I plan to use the wet cardboard/paper method when I test mine.
How in the world did you get almost 1400fps out of a 3” GP100 with only 13.5gr of H110?
Im dropping more than 13.5gr of H110 out of a 4” GP100 and my cylinder thoats are all uniform and measure rifht at .358” and I averaged around 1150fps.
How did you get your hard cast up to 17 BRN? What kind of alloy mix?

I should have qualified my first post, that postit in each pic is the velocity in the book per each load. I loaded 10 of each type, shot 2 in the barrel and on another day, will setup the chrono to measure actual velocity. There isnt enough distance in the garage to trap the boolits and keep the chrono dry. Though i thought about testing how waterproof it is....
