Then with this one die and the proper inserts, except for the occasionally necessary full-length sizing, one could load most any cartridge?

I guess boolits would still gain from an additional M or flare die, but that seems very versatile and useful.

Landy: thanks for including my tool and I have some better pics. It is the newest addition to this genera of tools, and hopefully will last as long as the ones shown above.

I also am including some pics of tools that were inspirational to me. I have always been fond of the portable tool for reloading. That is the way it was done in the beginning, and that's the way I'll end up doing it. The picture from a 1950's Cowboy Movie of men sitting around a kitchen table Reloading their Pistol, Rifle and Shotshells with black powder and home made components is indelibly etched in my mind.

    Here's a Paco Kelly Shotshell Deluxe Loader for .410 2 1/2" and 3" hulls.

    Randy,

You are very welcome; and thanks for your additions, both to this thread and to available hand presses.

Even when portability is not a necessity, it has value. Having the ability to grab and take nearly anywhere in one bag all that you need to viably pursue a very productive and engrossing hobby is far from a small thing.

These are rather rare, maybe, someone can post a pic of a full set.

I had good reason to suspect that a more complete set was here. somewhere. Thanks, Froggie!

My "set" still needs the wooden "mushroom" decapper, the wooden mallet, and maybe 2-3 proper powder dipper(s) to be "complete." In addition, I could use the longer seating plunger for round ball target loads, and if the set were late enough, the crimping sleeve like the one you got in 38 Spl. So far, I haven't seen evidence that these last were ever made with the rounded "mushroom" tops like the plungers they superficially resemble, but that would have been neat too.

When I win my second lottery (I'm already in debt for the first) I'll buy a museum grade set with all the correct pieces, but for now I'll continue searching and settling.

Nice example of a re- and decapper! That general design has been around for over 100 years and was especially popular among those of the schuetzen game. It is usually referred to as a "Pope-style Re- and Decapper" but old Harry seems to have gotten most of the basic design from Chick Martinez (sp?) in San Francisco. The Poole Tool and the very similar Jake Simmons tool were all the rage for those of us who shot one case over and over, reloading it with primer and powder between shots and breech seating the bullet to eliminate bullet jump. There was also a similar one made by Pete Allen, IIRC, and that would have been the one most recently available.

Found on the web - a Lyman / Ideal Shell Resizer, a hand tool to FL resize to supplement their tong tools and little presses that don't.

And, it is also a good object lesson in why we should only use soft(er) faced mallets with hand tools.
