When there is a skirmish they send the Marines, when there is a war they send the Army.

We all are on the same side guys.

    He's Army...why respond?

Ask him who brought out all the Army's artillery/trucks etc. when they evacuated in N. Korea?

I agree! Half the equipment we had was Navy gear we fixed and repainted. That taught you to take care of it too.
Think you can, or think you can't. Either way your right.

While I love my Marine Corps, I can't help but ask what idiot decided 29 Palms was the perfect place for a Marine Base??......... Snow in the winter, blistering heat in the summer and sage brush for miles and miles...

And then there's Pickle Meadows in the winter!

Oh, and NCO School at Paris Island in August!??

PS: All my experiences in those places are from the 1960's........ They "may have" improved since then..

Had a West Pointer tell me the Marines didn't understand logistics because they were never prepared to "hold" any place they took. I informed him that "holding things" was his job, not ours.

Marines don't have to hold. If we're allowed to do what we do best then there's no one left to take it from us.

This post is beginning to sound like conversations between myself and our youngest son on occasions (I retired after 23 years in the Corps and the youngest son did 5 years USA as an Intelligence Analyst and 5 years as an Ohio National Guardsman).

All I can add is: If it must absolutely be broken permanently overnight, with no hope of the opposition repairing it, call in the Marines.

I have heard it said that a GI, locked naked inside a padded cell with two 3" steel ball bearings, will only need ten minutes to loose one and break the other. . .

It appears that the Corps will strive not to be outdone. . .

That bottom one isn't correct. Someone had their feeling hurt and changed it.

The actual words are “Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem.”

I don't think I've ever seen the words " motivated Marine" and "almost" in the same sentence before !

Hey I'm a west pointer and I resemble that remark: I was highly trained in the arts of holding a clipboard, and holding useless meetings! In all seriousness though the marines I met incidentally in iraq were some of the most focused, competent and professional people I worked with in my time in the Army. Our tank unit was at a small marine base near ramadi for a few months in '06 and the marines really had their act together way more than nearly any army unit I had experience with. If I was doing it again and planned to stay in for 20, I would go Marines.
