CDOC, See if you can locate some IMR 4227 to try in your Ruger rifle. It works great in both my OM Ruger SBH and my 20" Rossi rifle in .44 Mag. I don't have any experience with, heavy for caliber boolits, but the Keith type 250 gr. NOE boolits perform well on the deer and hogs down here in central Texas using IMR 4227. I haven't manage to recover a boolit yet, even in large feral hogs. Treetop

Thanks Treetop...I have quite a lot of IMR 4227 in the old blue can.....I did read better performance out of rifle length barrels than most when compared to revolver length barrels....better burn I'm guessing with time to produce good velocities.

I did try some of the "H" verity of 4227, but it must have not done well as I didn't spend any more time with it.
