Barrel and Magazine marks identification for Sporterized Mauser

Getting my car fixed i hit the local pawn shop and came across asporterized mauser which was rebarreled in 3006 with williams buckhorn sights, drilled and tapped for scope and redone bolt handle. All the identifying marks have been ground off. Does anyone have a clue what they might be from the magazine logos/marks. There is also a barrel mark would anyone know who made it? It is a large ring measures 1.395" on the front.

Look like commercial proof marks to me. No maker roll marks on the barrel??

I check the receiver and there are proof marks for belgium Lion over P.V there is another mark which is a star over a V. Looks like a Belguim receiver. Only way to find out if i got a good deal is to take it out and shoot it. No marks on the barrel other than the second picture.

It reminds me of post war FN sporters using spare Mauser parts with the markings removed.Robert

I agree, like the parker hale sporter versions.
Is the trigger gaurd new? Newish? The front sight may be maked.

Take it out of the stock and look on the bottom of the barrel. Where is the serial number? If it's on the barrel it was probably rebarreled in Europe. The bolt handle looks forged & bent and the bolt shroud is military. Is the stock walnut?

Serial number is on the ring. The stock is a very light colored walnut. Looks like a utility grade no figure at all. The trigger guard does not look like military version, newer possibly. Going to try and get out in the next few days and see if it will shoot.

It looks a lot like the Mausers that Sears and Montgomery Wards (and some hardware stores) sold during the 60s. Very good rifles at bargain basement prices.

No doubt a Belgian commercial product. At any rate , from this period(looks 60's or 70's to me , it will be a properly made of good material . Probably a cut rifled and lapped tube ...broached at the least .

if I ran into this gun at a decent price it would follow me home. A whole lot more character than the new economy guns even thought they might shoot a wee bit better.
