In my International Harvester Garand, I use the RCBS 200 Gr. Sil. bullet cast with 50% wheelweight and 50% linotype alloy sized .311, Hornaday gas check and lubed with White Label 2500. The powder charge is 42 gr. of IMR 4831 with a tuft [1/2 gr.] of dacron. I use Lake City military brass and a Remington standard primer. I use a Lee crimp die after seating the bullet to the base of the neck in the case.
I like a medium crimp and rotate the case 180 degrees and crimp again. I have shot this load for years and it will group as well as any military ball ammo that I have ever used with absolutely no trace of leading in the barrel. After a couple of hundred rounds, I do find some traces of lead on the op. rod piston and in the gas port of the gas cylinder which I clean out. A wonderful, fun load that is a variation of the famous "Bob S" cast bullet load for the Garand. Enjoy! Streetwalker
