Non swager question on "nose forming"??

I do cast but have never fully swaged boolits other than for size/diameter. I would like to give a try at nose swaging cast boolits. I'd like to duplicate the nose of Lehigh Defense "xtreme penetrator" bullets with cast. Some for pistol and some for ML shooting. Can you guys give some insight?

    thanks, 10

those look like they are copper coated. you could have a custom mold done and then powder coat them. swaging one of those would require a softer lead then you would want, ymmv.

They are solid brass and copper. Machining intricate nose profiles like that with a CNC lathe and mill is probably easier then making the swage die necessary to attempt such profiles. If I thought long and hard I could probably figure something out but such "nonstandard" profiles adds a LOT of cost $$$$$!

That bullet profile could be duplicated with a small lathe equipped with a tool post grinder.
And a cannalure tool for the muzzleloader bullets, the process would not be fast.

But considering the cost of those bullets, making your own might be satisfying.

Check your cost for brass and copper rod, the stuff is priced like silver in small quantities.
Might be those finished bullets are cheaper than your cost for raw material.
