    Butter Pound Cake

We are going to some friends house tonight to have a meal and play cards. My MBH (much better half) just baked a (from scratch) homemade Butter Pound Cake. If it is half as good as it smells, it's gonna be wonderful.

I will enjoy an extra slice for all my friends on this forum.

    Have a blessed day,

    Leon

Pound cake... so named because that was the ingredient list.

    One pound of butter
    One pound of sugar
    One pound of eggs
    One pound of flour

My bride made one for a weekly family gathering two weeks ago and had several requests for more.

I agree with Charlie....but it would be very good with strawberries, blueberries, or cherries.......also!

Love a good Pound Cake and a Lemon Pound Cake even more. Just by itself. And a good Lemon Chess Pie.

Gotta double or triple the amount of lemon though than most recipies call for. I like it stout

Pound cake with blueberry sauce(chunky, I don't strain, just cook with a little sugar), and whipped cream(I cheat and use RediWhip these days)

    Mary,
You may not believe this, but my MBH used some blueberries in the cake, and carried the remainder of the cooked berries and sauce wih us. I don't know how much BB she added, but it was just right.

    Lip smacking good.

I planted 3 blueberry bushes this spring, adding sulpher to acidify the soil. Hope they make it...

I'll post one, this is my absolute favorite , passed down from grandmother.

COLD OVEN CREAM CHEESE POUND CAKE
Do not preheat oven. take all ingredients out of refgerator for 2 hours before preparing the cake.

    1 (8oz.) pkg. cream cheese
    3 sticks butter
    3 cups sugar
    6 eggs
    3 cups cake flour
    3 teaspoons vanilla extract.
optional : 2 teaspoon vanilla, 1 teaspoon almond extract.
optional : 1 teaspoon vanilla, 2 teaspoons lemon extract

Cream butter and eggs together; add sugar gradually. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flour, then add extracts.
Pour batter into a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Place into a COLD oven , set temperature at 325 degrees. Bake about 1 hour and 35 minutes.
Test often and remove when done....do not over bake .
