I think you should be able to do your pads with the Belt / Disc sander on your bench.
The 4x24 does go Vertical doesnt it ?
And if it has a Table it would be your best choice.
If the table is too small on the belt sander, then just build one out of smooth plywood
Used the Miles Gilbert for my 700 Rem and I have not complaints!! Easy to used, set up and provides a quality fitted butt pad. Check out my photo album....I have some shots throughout the process.
Got the jig and finally got some time to start the project. This is a project gun for my 11 year old getting ready to become a hunter. Gun is real light and kicked him pretty hard, plus LOP was long for him. Wrist had a crack on each side also that we repaired with 2 ton epoxy. Heres some pics of the process so far. All went pretty well, only real complaint is the toe has a spot that didnt sand perfectly, you can see the little piece sticking out. Have it in the freezer now to try and fix. I used the freezer trick and the chalk trick that were mentioned.
I appreciate these tips and tricks. I have done a lot of pads, but some of these tricks I have never heard of. Thanks for all the info...
