    Game Bags

    Hey fellas.

Quick question- we recently tagged out on both elk and moose and it was a grand hunt.

The only issue was game bags. Have any of you ever made your own? We want ones that are bigger than the ones we have seen around here; the factory offerings are great for smaller animals... but awful tight for the bigger ones. If anyone has ever done this before, any pointers would be sincerely appreciated.

Best of luck to you in the 2019 season!

I use a couple Army mattress covers which are heavy cotton twill bags that fit over the old Army mattresses. Plenty big enough for a whole deer or 1/2 large elk. Quite washable also. You should be able to have a good seamstress double over a quality cotton king size sheet length wise and sew into a similar bag?

For Elk hunting I always carried 6 old pillow cases rolled up in my saddle pannier. When a quarter came off it went in a bag without touching the ground. 4 bags for the quarters. 1 bag for rib meat, backstraps etc on each side.

My wife made some from old sheets.
She sewed some ties on the open end to close them.

I use pillow cases often.... Wash them when the wife isn't home

I also use the the cheap cheese cloth style because they are lightweight.
