Jem102 that is one nice looking set up for a burner. I don't think you will have any trouble in smelting lead on that burner. I have 2 pieces of advise for you (1) get a thermometer and (2) keep your heat between 600 degrees and 750 degrees and never let it go past that reason being when lead boils (I think that is around 900 degrees) it gives off some kind of nasty fumes you do not want to be around anyway that is my safety tip for you D Crockett

roughly where are you located? I travel around a lot for work and might be worth it to pick some stuff up. I'm guessing shipping is $$ with the weight of the items?

When someone says "It will hold 3 gallons of water", I can picture exactly how big it is. There are lead pots on eBay that tell exactly how much they hold, i.e., 4 pound pot. etc. If you look at the comments under 4 lb pot you will see many complaints about how people thought they were getting a bigger pot. A 4 lb pot holds what? Less than a quart of water? It put things into what is known as "perspective". Meaning they can get a picture of it in their mind. I think most people can imagine how big of a pot that held 3 gallons of water would be.

I'm set for pots and such but I'll put in a bump for the molds. Triangle molds stack well, fit in pot well. These avoid the problem with molds I made of having the filled portion touching the wood work surface. His molds are elevated by the ends, which might help prevent your table surface from turning to charcoal.

You might consider leaving that last little bit of lead in the pot, next batch will melt faster if the whole bottom is covered.

Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this way of getting casting material somehow.

D Crockett - Did you receive my PO MO? It shows it was delivered yesterday (9/8). I sent you a PM with the tracking number, but did not get a reply. No sweat, just wanted to make sure $$ got to your hands. I know you have bigger things to focused on right now like Hurricane Irma. Family and safety first.
