New to me Bear lure

Baiting for bear is illegal in Montana but friends who hunt Idaho have had success with 1/2 lb bacon, 4-6 oz honey and a few drops of anise oil in an old #10 can. Put it on a small campfire and let it go until the can is red and clean. [4-6 hours] you should have bear investigating it for the next week.

I have heard of this one, or something very similiar. Cooking it would obviously release a ton of scent, which likely clings to nearby brush, trees, etc. similar to walking in a home of a smoker, it clings to everything

The smoke also moves with the breeze and they come in from several canyons over.

I just hauled a dozen pales of donuts, a dozen pales of dried bread, four garbage bags of dried bread, and a pale of used grease up north for my buddies kid's bait site
