    New to me Bear lure

A friend just told me about a bear lure that will draw them for miles. First buy some 3 day or more old lite bread at your local bread store. Tear it up in small pcs. and put in a large bowl. Buy a cheap berry wine. Boons Farm rings a bell. Pour on the bread and let the bread soak it up. Place in a plastic bag and take it out to your favorite stand. Place it with fairly large pole's covering it so small animals can't drag it off. Cut two slits in the bag and let the yeast in the bread start it to work.
This is the method the game commission uses to dart and tag bears. I was told when the bread started to ferment the odor would reach miles.

Good thing we have no bears, or they would all be hanging out at the alcohol plant. It smells just like that MILES away!

I wonder why the lite bread? If I get drawn for a license this year I will give it a try.

Here is another proven choice. https://bearscents.com/bear/ These guys make great scents to fit the primary attractants in your area. RD

Popcorn, and or dog food, molasses watered down in a spray bottle, spray the dog food, popcorn, stump, etc. with the molasses all around the site.

Go to your local bar and grill and ask for a 5 gal pail of the grill grease/scrapings. They usually keep them in the freezer until trash day. Take it out to your hunting spot, hang it in a tree and shoot it with a 12ga slug. This will spray the meat grease all over and put the scent into the wind. They will come.

There are MANY MANY ways to attract bear, you want to find a hollow stump, something you can dump the bait in that the bear can't easily access, or access at all, they will literally dig a stump out of the ground. Reason for this is keeping them at the bait (where you should be) longer

1 rotten turkey and 6 gunnysacks of bread to start. after that 6 gunysacks of bread a week for 6 weeks. you will have the big daddy sleeping next to the bait while all of the younger bears sneek in when they can. the best bear i have ever eaten was a 2 year old sow that was grained on bread for two months. my wife even bragged to the women in her office how good our bear burgers were.

The rangers at the Great Smokey Mountains National park use cans of sardines tied to a thin rope and thrown out of reach over limbs.

There's a guy in Texas that has a scent company . He puts the scent in candles and sells these little lantern kinda looking things to burn the candles in . Anyway I heard about him 5 or 6 years ago in a bow hunting magazine . And we ordered some to try and sell in the shop .

For bear he had anise , bacon and honey . I can attest to the bacon and anise working well as we used them when we had damage control permits .

He also sells candles for deer that have worked well for me also .

We used cans of sardines nailed to a tree for luring in Black Bears for our survey counts
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

Baiting for bear is illegal in Montana but friends who hunt Idaho have had success with 1/2 lb bacon, 4-6 oz honey and a few drops of anise oil in an old #10 can. Put it on a small campfire and let it go until the can is red and clean. [4-6 hours] you should have bear investigating it for the next week.
