Gun Show Display - The RCBS A series presses

All the A's from the welded frame to the last A-3. Plus a couple Model B's and some other early items.
Colorado Gun Collector's show in Denver this past weekend. The display was very favorably received by the public.

Now that is drool worthy! That display would make me just as warm and fuzzy as a table of guns would! Very nice!

Lubedude, it gets better. Saturday a guy walked in and asked, without any chit-chat, why I did not have a Big Max. I told him they were too expensive and I was not going to spend that kind of money. He replied that he was moving and I could have his for what he paid for it, $150.00. Plus postage, I said I will pick it up, where do you live? 100 miles south of Grand Junction. I was there at 10:30 this morning, cash in hand.
Got the press, instructions, shellholders, ammo box, primer catcher, ram prime, pin wrench. It's all there and exceptionally clean.
And I go to travel on roads I had not seen before, with great scenery and a slow travel time. It took 10 hours to get from his place to Pueblo, average speed 33 mph! What a trip. What a press.

    Awesome pickup Pressman, congrats!

I agree, there is some beautiful country there. I've been in that area going slow myself.

Kevin, you have a valid point. Pictures in due time, when I have time. Today I spent 7 hours and 317 pictures at an antique truck show. Press pictures are on the list.

Pressman can you talk to us about the RCBS pre a press and its variations if any. Me n LubeDude have what we believe are different versions. Mine is stamped RCBS Co and his is not. See attached pics. Thanks. Click image for larger version.

What is stamped on top is a variable. My 1948 has patent applied for and the 1954 has patent pending. The applied for part didn't come for many years after this press was made.

But you need to look at the primer arm mount. The 1948 has two holes for the original primer mechanism, later presses have just one arm. Next look at the pivot block and handle mount, they are very different, even if at first glance they don't appear to be. Both are reversible for up or down stroke operation. The 1948 uses an elliptical bushing to change the stroke.
The threads for the bushing could be different, or maybe not. Otherwise they are the same.

That is super duper cool! I picked up a A2 off of Craigslist last fall and love everything about it. Make my RCII look delicate!
