Old Lee manual disc powder measure

I find the Lee disc works well with flake powder.
After some fine tuning.
I remember seeing these a long time ago.
Never tried one.
I'm looking at modifying one of my disc measures to work like this.
Just want to see if anyone had comments on it.

Had an extra disc measure, so this is what I came out with.

Had to make the spacer in picture three.
Welded the round lever on.
Plate on the front is to keep the disc from going to far forward.
Tried it with IMR4227 for .30 Carbine. Powder meters good, so not really a good test, but it worked.
Very consistent from load to load so far.
Will have to try it with a flake powder, but it's doing what I want it to.

Interesting. I think you may make some adjustments to your design as you go along, but this is a good place to begin.

I've been using this for a little while now.
I like it.
Use for rifle loads only. But could use for pistol if needed.
Accurate enough for me.
I dump into the scale pan, weigh it, and trickle to the load.
To me, it's more consistent than any of my other measures.
Still working on an adjustable disc for it.

If the round disks with multiple holes will fit in this thing, hey make an adjustable that works quite well.
I can't tell for sure from the pictures if it will work though.

I have never seen one of these, but may have to work on building one, as I really like the disc measure for flake powder. I tried the adjustable, years back, and for me, it did not throw as accurate a charge as the disc. Not sure why, as in theory, it should work fine. Just what I remember.

I like the disc because it doesn't cut stick powder.
Haven't found a drum type that doesn't get stuck sometimes.

I looked in my old catalogs and in 2001 it was up and in 2002 it was gone.
I think it got ditched because of the PPM wich was in the 2001.

That sucker has dispensed 200lbs or more. I even wore out a hopper in the threads. So i converted this one with threaded rods and thumb screws.

I like it. I wish Lee would make a rifle and pistol diecast adjustable charge bar. When I first saw the picture, I thought it might be some type of disconnector or return bar, to replace the chain.

The Lee "Perfect Powder Measure" does a good job, at least for me, with stick powders. I have had RCBC Uni Flows for years, and think they are a great measure, but for what ever reason, the Lee seems to do a little better job of having less charges thrown off by a sticking or cut piece of powder than any other measure I have used.

I have found that rotating up and down with a sharp rap, gives the best consistency with all powders. I do not like the Lee from the standpoint that it is so light and the handle is too close to the drop tube. You want to have the measure well secured to the bench and be careful if you are dropping into a scale pan. I weigh all my competition loadings, and find that with H4198 and Accurate 5744, 8 of 10 throw plus or minus .1 grain.

I have a Lee Auto drum on a Lee 1000 turret set up for 38 Special. I have only tried it with Unique, but it quite accurate with that powder.
