Forming .257 Weatherby Brass from 7mm Rem Mag

Has anyone tried to form .257 Weatherby Mag brass from something more commonly available like 7mm Rem Mag? I'd be interested in knowing how you go about it, if so.

    Thanks!

Your necks will be a little short. You really need to anneal them as well. The first batch I did without annealing lost about 70% to neck splits on first firing.

Thomas, thanks for the offer, but I honestly don't know what I would do with them here in Korea - assuming that they would even arrive!

It actually looks like .300 Win Mag might be a good place to begin, although the case shoulder is a bit far forward. The case is long enough to leave me with full length necks, at least.

7MM Rem Mag is the way to go, Anneal them as Elkins45 Said, They will come up a little short. Back when i had my .257 Weatherby I found a good deal/Sale on Weatherby brand Ammo so i picked up several boxes just for the brass. I had just started working on the 7MM brass for .257 Weatherby when i found the Weatherby stuff on sale so i gave up on the project.

Remington used to produce 7mm Weatherby brass. That's what I started with, but it was easy because the radius shoulder was already formed.

One plus for 7mm Rem is that it's so easy to find.
