    Puppies opened eyes !

We took my mother out for Mother's Day and than went and visited my wife's and sister in laws mothers memorials. When we got home all 9pups had their eyes open only 2 did on Saturday night. They also started to squat to pee so they have made the trip from a kiddy wadding pool in the living room to the outdoor kennel. My girls knows the move was coming but were still worried about the fox we've had sneaking around the weasel I've seen twice, coyotes, cold weather, owls and werewolves.this morning at 6am I went to tend to all the critters we keep and mom and pups were fine , as I knew theyd be! Pups were feeding and mom got a few treats and a warm egg over her food!

MaryB, I've had labs or golden retrievers all my life , this dog is a treeing Cur very similar to a lab in personality and spirit and loyalty, great hunters or pets or farm dogs or service dogs or all of the above! She's been such a great dog we needed a pup of hers , even though we got her at 9 months old and she had been taught nothing in just days she was up to speed on house rules, property lines and that chickens and rabbits and ducks were ours and not to be harmed! My wife works a late shift, within a few minutes of her getting home the dog will go outside and lay down beside the drive way to wait for her! Look up the history of curs in America and their slightly bigger cousins from Scotland,Ireland and Wales! Old yeller was a cur. MaryB if you want one for real PM me they are very reasonably priced and I do trade!

What a beautiful sight. Not a day goes by that I don't miss my black lab, Scout. Best dog a man could ask for.

While I would love one I do not have the energy to chase after a pup...

So last night they learned a new trick; they stand on their hind legs and nurse while momma is eating or drinking! When she's done she gives the wet dog shake and sends little black fuzz balls flying and lays down and they all scramble to find a spot at the "bar"!

There's something about a new litter of nice, healthy pups that makes a man feel at least 10 years younger! Thanks for the pix.

Now you have me wondering if I want to give up my INDEPENDENT way of life and at age 81 bring in a dog again.
