Coating powder measures

I coat my powder measures with spray moly.
Do it mostly to keep it from rusting.
Everything rust here.
I does help make it smoother.
The powder doesn't stick to the sides
I'm thinking of trying a dry lube spray.
One that is NOT silicone base.
Has anyone tried it and what brand have you tried????

I just shoot some powdered graphite in mine and cycle it to get the excess out and seems to work.

I have used powdered molybdenum disulfide working it into the housing and drum I simply put a small amount in it and cycle the measure.

Can't use oil.
The moly spray is thin, but it will come off on the hands sometimes.
Looking for something that is cleaner.
I just tried some dry lube with teflon.
It turned white and powdery.
We'll see how it works.
I've read someplace that it's not good to use silicon spray near powder.
It that true???

What measure do you have and are you talking about powder sticking to the plastic cylinder?

Almost all of them with a plastic hopper will stick sometimes.
To the hopper, not the measure.
I wipe it down with a drier sheet, and it's good for a while.
The dry lube with Teflon works OK.
Wiped the white powder off and put it back together.
Feels smoother.
Not to see if it helps keep it from rusting.

A used flat section of dryer sheet under the lid of the hopper has the desired effect or affect (?) on preventing powder sticking. On the Lee PMs it helps keep the lid secure in place.

If you want to avoid the electrostatic stickiness of the plastic hopper, rinse it out it with (clean) dishwasher water and let it air dry. Will work for months.

I have never had a problem with static in my hoppers. I might try the graphite trick and see if it helps consistency with extruded powders.

I have some "Caterpillar Dry Boom Lube" in a spray can from when I worked on Heavy Equipment. It's basically a spray on graphite bases lube (dries and doesn't attract dirt). I've sprayed some of my tools and even used it for a bullet lube for my low velocity 38 Special ammo. I used it on my C-H powder measure drum, seemed to work OK to smooth the action up a bit, but I'm not bothered by excessive rust...

Is the spray graphite messy???
When dry, will it come off on hands???
I'll have to look for some spray graphite.
Spray moly works good, but is sometimes messy.

I use spray graphite on all my measures, works great. It doesn't come off on your hands once dried. I use it on the hopper, on the drums in the auto drum, and on the discs for the auto disc. The only one that only has it in the hopper but not in the drum is my Lyman 55.

Depending on the measure, you could switch to a Pyrex replacement hopper.

Dawn dish soap or whatever and don't rinse.
