Sitting in the lobby waiting to go into my third surgery on my foot in 6 months, goid chance it isn't the last. SO.....i feel ya.

Couple years ago I had my foot operated on, 6 weeks of no walking on it, except with crutches, sitting on my butt not being able to do too much of anything.
Got bored to tears.
Tomorrow I go to see a specialist to see what they want to do to my neck.
4 bad vertebrae pushing on nerves , 2 bulging disks, and from what they said about my MRI, I at sometime in the near past damaged my spinal cord in my neck.
NO lifting anything till they decide what to do, and if they operate I will have to take it real easy for 3 to 6 months.
All this on top of cabin fever this winter.

Well, at least I'm still alive to complain.

That's it right there. If I had not had caught my prostate cancer and had my surgery and radiation I'm told 12-18 months was all I would have lived.

I understand.... I just had a port put in last Wednesday, then chemo started. Prior was the colon surgery, super glued and stapled belly, with the hair growing back. Cancer sucks. You have my prayers. I have to go back the 17th unless I can change it to the 19th, for another round of chemo. 5.5 hours, the scheduling lady said.

I did that last July. Had the knee done by noon, at 3:00 after the spinal wore off I made the first trip to the bathroom. Been improving ever since
Keep ice on it, Do your physio bending and strenght exericises (what else are you going to do). and make sure you can get on a stationary bicycle in under 4 weeks. Once I got on that bike 4 ten minute sessions a day to start and I could feel the improvement.
Now - 10 months later is it much better than before I went in for surgery. And I haven't had pain in it since the surgery.
It gets better fast if you do the physio

I know the feeling well. My last 12 months have been the proverbial bummer. It started with an aggressive prostate cancer and surgery. They did a bone scan and it appeared contained and my psa has been immeasurable so that's good. They noticed that a lumbar fusion I had three years ago was failing and HAD to be repaired or a wheel chair life was lurking for me. Then my ticker went South and I got a quadruple bypass, some valves fixed and part of my ticker re-built. The two trips to the hospital for a very nasty case of A-fib and shock treatment.

All the while my spine was getting worse. Finally I got the back surgery. A complete revision surgery from tail bone to shoulder blades. The most painful surgery I ever experienced. I never got a chance to fully heal from any one surgery before the next so it's been a trial for sure. I'm up and moving more now and walk when the weather allows me. It's a very long haul and the worst thing for me is not being able to work yet but the day is coming......smiles. I'm beyond the age to quit but have no desire to do so. I'm stopping by this site more often now which helps and visit the chat room when I see members there I used to chat with quite a bit. Locked up and hurting is no fun at all.

I'm doing everything I can to avoid that second back surgery. Thankfully all my doctors are on board with that. I'll continue to take my morphine twice a day and gabapentin three times a day. That helps keep the wolf at bay.

I fully understand avoiding another back surgery. I had no choice really though. It was either go through all this or see the quality of my life erode away. My aim is to stay active until I drop over dead.....smiles.

I've fallen in love with Bag Balm again. It's really helping. My doctor is sending out a stronger antifungal cream. Hopefully I can get ahead of this.

TG, Wish I had some words that would bring some relief. I know you're miserable but glad you caught the cancer in time. I hope your aftermath gets better soon.

Boudreaux's Butt Paste are the only words of relief I can come up with. The stuff is very soothing, It's my go-to rash relief , we used it on our babies.

I feel for you Grunt! Sounds a lot like sitting in a bed of fire ants, or straying into a nest of chiggers ("red bugs" here)!!! I've heard all sorts of remedies, but have never found one that really works. As Jerry Clower might say, "MERCY!!!" Just keep in mind that old Bible verse, "This too shall pass!"

I too feel for you. I went to Stanford Univ Hospital as a stage IV terminal patient, and enrolled in clinical trials. The chemo they put me through was rough. Then they wiped out my immune system and replaced it with someone else's (stem cell/DNA therapy). I had to stay indoors or wear a respirator just to go outside. I got to go home at the three month mark.

I remember the Dr going over the list of things I couldn't do, no hunting, no fishing, no camping, no fast food, no deli food, all food cooked to death (nothing even "medium well"), no ice from an ice machine, no dairy, etc for the six months post transplant. I asked about going out shooting, he said, only outdoor range, but have to wear respirator. I asked about reloading (remember Stanford is in Palo Alto, think south San Francisco), and the dr says, that's where you put the bullets together? I said yes, and he said ok!! My wife's jaw about hit the floor.

But think about it, it beats the alternative!
