The handle I made is just steel rod from the hardware store, I doubt it is tool steel, and certainly not drill rod. It hasn't bent loading 38Special.
I'm on the opposite side of VA from you or I would weld it. Cast can be tricky and I doubt its a high nodular cast. I recommend an experienced person to handle the job. The other option would be to get a toggle machined from billet.

"A picture is worth a thousand words." Thanks, Ken, that picture of the turret says it all. Having said that, I'm thinking that if I were to go ahead with my tentative plan to just modify one station to enable use of a carbide sizing die along with the rest of a small die set, hopefully the loss of one divot out of the center ridge of the turret casting will not weaken it too badly. Of course heavy FL sizing of bottle neck cases still wouldn't be practical on this little press, but it should easily handle the job on any straight walled pistol cases.

Mr. Frog Person Sir; In my not so humble opinion I think it would be cheaper to buy a new 7/8-14 turret than modify an original. Unless you have the tools to do it your self, then it become a matter of creating something with my own hands.
A replacement turret would be stronger also.

Well, Ken, from what Froggie has said in the past he has the tools in his basement to do the job - as soon as he gets them dug out!

    I resemble that remark!!

Actually it's probably easier to run over to the shop at my Community College and do a quick drill and tap on one of the dozen or so vertical mills they keep set up all the time. If I only modify the one hole mentioned, I can get it set up and indicated, drill and tap, then put in a big end mill or small fly cutter to do the divot in the spigot on top, all without moving and resetting. Should be do-able even by an amphibian!

Ken, I talked to a welder this AM - said he could do it but asked to clarify if it is cast iron or cast steel? Cast Iron has to be heated red hot to MIG weld, steel is much simpler.

From what he said it sounds doable, I'll send a PM.

Froggie, do you want the turret for practice?

Wayne, if you wind up with an extra TL Jr turret, I'd be glad to have it. Then I could stick it in my car and when I have a spare afternoon over on campus could run down to the shop and alter the one station/hole. Thanks!

Wayne, I will be getting your new toy box in the mail this week. I just got home from another road trip and I can say you really are going to be happy with your Christmas in June box.
    Just sayin'

I'll see your Atlantic Beach, NC and raise you a Nassau, Bahamas.

I'll be back to VA and home on Tuesday in time to vote for a conservative in the state primaries if one shows up. No telling how much stuff I'll have to do when I finally get home!
