    Savage 110 ejection problem

This is an early 22-250. It extracts just fine but then drops the case into the magazine well instead of ejecting it.

    Suggestions?

Check the ejector plunger and see if it's stuck down. Dirt & rust are suspects.
    Best, Thomas.

Sometimes little pieces of brass from the extractor can jam the ejector. And agree dirt and crud do as well. If I remember right as it's been sometime since I had the bolt apart of my 110FP in 308, there should be a small pin that holds the ejector in place. With the bolt in a big plastic bag drive out the pin with the proper pin punch and be careful as the spring can launch the ejector never to be seen again. That is why I suggested a large plastic bag. Clean out the ejector recess with any good gun cleaning solvent, lightly oil and reassemble. Hope this helps. Frank

I should have mentioned that I replaced the ejector spring with a new factory spring. The ejector plunger and spring are clean and everything moves freely.

Have you ever removed the Bolt Head? If so, did it go back on right, rather than chucking them up and right, they are going down and left?????

Get a larger diameter detent ball. You can search on Savageshooters site for the size. It helps. This is a very common problem with Savage rifles. 223 rifles were the worst offenders doing this. I think there is also a newer design extractor.
