    As of Dec. 31st, 2017 Total 125.

This information was primarily obtained from the website www.odmp.org which includes photos of the fallen
officers and dates of the incidents. Any discrepancies in spelling or other information are my error and apologies
    are extended.

The purpose of posting this list was to honor with remembrance those who have fallen, and to impart to the
viewer the shocking number of officers that fall in the space of one year's time and the varied curcumstances
    of their deaths.

Rest In Peace, my brothers and sisters, knowing that we shall all be resurrected, and that the good and bad alike
shall be judged and rewarded accordingly.

Romans 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if them do that which is evil be afraid, for he beareth
    not the sword in vain........(KJV)

"Oh, you're a Cop?" That's cool. I wanted to do that when I was a kid. What do you make?" (sarcastic)

"What do I make? I make holding your hand seem like the biggest thing in the world when someone just tried to hurt you.
I make 5 minutes seem like a lifetime when I am fighting a suspect while waiting for back up. I make those annoying sirens seem like angels when you need them. I can sometimes make your children breathe when they stop. I make myself get out of bed to risk my life to safe people I've never met. I make it possible to keep back the chaos everyday. I make going to work for your family's safety a duty that I will die for. I make myself work holidays, nights, during snow storms and other disasters. Today I might make the ultimate sacrifice to save your life. I make a difference. What do you make?"

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

That is a sad, sad list.
One officer listed, Houston Largo, of the Navajo Dept. of Public Safety was known to a friend of mine through a training class they had together.
He was by all accounts a fine, brave and outstanding officer.
Here is a little clip of his funeral, I think by an Albuquerque TV station.

The Flags in our town were at flown at "half staff" for this gentleman. Although I never met him, the accounts I have heard about him mirror yours. He was a fine officer, and this was a huge loss to his community.

Too many good people on that list, ten died every month. That causes me to wonder. The son just retired after 23 years in pararescue, as a Combat Rescue Officer, he is finishing his resume for a federal position submission to DHS and the Border Patrol. They came looking for him when they found out he retired. Looks like it might be more hazardous to his health than his 23 deployments into combat.

I have buried so many friends that I cant hardly make myself go unless they are a close friend.....taps, bagpiper, and gun salute tears my heart out....
When guns are outlawed only criminals and the government will have them and at that time I will see very little difference in either!

It's a terrible thing to lose a friend, but it's sad to see the country that I love turn on those in uniform who are just doing the best they can to protect our way of life.

Sur-shot - 23 combat deployments is a stunning accomplishment. God Bless him. One difference I think he might find is that after a deployment, he was given a period ( or some such ) to stand down. A cop goes on line (at least the kind of policing I'm familiar with) when he raises his hand and doesn't stand down until retirement. Prayers & thoughts.
