Has anyone here ever made 458 projectiles from once fired 44 magnum brass?
If anyone has, Got photos? Maximum weights?

I have never tried it but, I would think you would have to turn off the rim on a lathe. You may want to try a cartridge based on the 30-06 case. These were used to make 44 Auto Mag cartridges.
A vote for anyone other then the conservative candidates is a vote for the liberal candidates.
Well... 30-06 and 308 have the same diameter so... Use whatever is cheaper. (308 blanks maybe?)

Got BT's dies just for making .458 and it makes projectiles from .308 and 30/06, no problem. Even .45acp cases. If you cut the 06 case's right you can make 2 jackets.

Its just that i can get 44 magnum once fired for basically nothing , Where as once fired 308 would cost me more then me just tooling and making thin walled cups... And i dont shoot it that much to warrant tooling up to make 458 cups...
I make all my 44 mag, and 45 acp bullets from .40 S&W donor brass. The ratio works out perfectly. No trimming required.

You can make as heavy as 400+ grain .458 bullet from scrap 45ACP brass. Much easier to work with then shearing the rim off the 44mag.

BT. Do you remember the .416 bullets I test shot for you? You used .40 S&W cases for those 350 gr. (+/-) bullets. Thanks again for letting me test them out.Robert
Yep I remember, I still have those dies and the target you shot.
I was glad you got to test them for me.

I did, but it is a lot easier to use 7.5x55 brass that is already .500 at the base.
308win, necked up and the final 820 grain bullet!
