This CH press is a bit unusual. It has a cam at the end of the arm to move the ram rather than linkage. It is cast iron and uses modern 7/8 X 14 dies. Does anyone know the age, the model, the background behind this press?

I don't know, but maybe these people would.
I believe that is a model 204(?). It's a rugged Cast iron press except the aluminum alloy pull handle yoke which is the weakest link. It will do a good job at most operations except swagging. It may or may not be up to tough rifle case forming. If it's a case form that takes most of your strength or a cheater pipe I would not trust that yoke to hold.
I do not know the model year, but would guess 60's-70's. I would not be surprised if they were made in the 80's as well, but would think not many were sold unless considerably less than a Rock Chucker.

What number is on the frame? 204 or 205? Mine is a 205, looks like yours but uses a link to the ram.
The black C-H presses were made in Owen Wisconsin, late 1970's.
