    Some old,wierd, and just cool

    Here is a picture of some of the "rarer" ones I have.
    I always liked to transition period where various gents had an idea on how to make a self contained cartridge.

    I really like the old stuff. The engineering that went into designing and manufacturing the old ammo was incredible.

    Thanks for posting the old stuff.

    I will dig out some of mine when the dust settles.

    how do you keep the VERDIGRIS from them and keep the black powder eating them from the inside out with all of the age of them? BTW, a great batch. thanks for sharing.

    The only cleaning I do on my old stuff is wiping them with acetone. It has not yet harmed anything. Ill even wipe the bullets, unless paper patched.
    As far as BP eating them from inside out, not had a problem with that and cartridge would be too far gone at that point anyway.

    218bee, thanks for the information on them. I guess there is no way to stop the BP. from interacting from the inside out with the brass or copper.

    Nice collection. Those are some of the classic most notable cartridges too.

    I don't think that black powder will cause much if any corrosion of the cases. But the old mercuric corrosive primers, when fired, would likely weaken the cases. As I understand it, the old corrosive primers make the brass cases more brittle.
