Melted about 150 pounds of WWs this AM. Ended up with about 90 lbs of lead and 60 lbs of zinc and steel. Less and less lead in every batch I do.

Yea, that is about what I have found with last few buckets of WW's I have processed and find a lot of new styles of zinc weights that are harder to sort out.
a friend from the front range drooped of a couple 30 gallon barrels of wheel weights for me to sort and melt into ingots. I get to keep half for the work and so far its about 50% steel and trash, hardly worth the effort but every little bit builds the stash.
When all WWs are returned to the likes of INTERSTATE BATTERY and it causes a higher demand for all the other sources, you'll be glad you spent the time and built a stash. Most all casting can be met with CO WWs. Most other alloys need hardeners and tin. Everything has to be at least smelted to clean ingots. The sooner you develop a quick means of separating the junk from the lead WW, the faster your stash wll grow.

I'm picking up 5-6 buckets of mixed wheel weights tomorrow. The best kind too, FREE!
