    Identification Help Needed

Howdy! Have some parts that I need help identifying and two *** happened to these molds.

First up is a very long (9 1/2 inches or so) decapping die:

    Attachment 193552
    Attachment 193553
Cannot find any markings whatsoever on any of the parts...

Old push thru dies??? Kinda look like Lee reloader parts. Sizes: 308, 356, 358, 427, 429, 452, 457
    Attachment 193554

    Aluminum funnels??? Sizes: 30C, 44C, 44C, 45C, 45C
    Attachment 193555
    Attachment 193556

And now for the ***'s - Poor Lyman molds:

Lyman 375 615 - Trying to make a slug and over bored it?
    Attachment 193557Attachment 193558Attachment 193559

Lyman 375 355 - How did they managed to bore a crooked hole?
    Attachment 193560Attachment 193561

    Thanks!

Pictures 3, 4 and 5 are most of the tools from Lee sizing kits. They came in a box with a stick of lube and a little flat pan to melt it in.

You stood the boolits in the pan, melted the lube around them, took the proper sized aluminum "Kake Kutter" and cut them out of the solidified lube. You then put them in the appropriate die and whacked them through with the plunger.

The first die is (I think) one of those Universal dies that Herter's and other outfits offered.

I guess the human impulse to spray paint graffiti on building walls has its analogue in he reloading world, where certain individuals cannot resist running a drill bit into a mould. It's most often the right size to take out the cavity, but some people can't even get that right. Cutting into the screw hole pretty much turns the first one into junk. The angled cavity in the second is a new one on me, though.

No idea on the decapping die, I agree the whackamole sizers and kake cutters are from Lee sizing kits.

It took some real talent to drill a bent hole like that.

I think you found the one and only custom mold, that was cut during the Asperly Aimless group buy...it literally broke the lathe.

Ahhhhh............just cast 'em and run 'em through a sizing die. Should clean 'em right up. Be sure to post pics of the results..............

Seriously, I've got a fair amount of machining time under my belt and I CANNOT figure out how they bored a hole like that!

I've been a toolmaker for a long time and machined my share of blocks in the lathe, only thing I can think of is this on started moving while it was being machined.

Looks like they might have used a carbide tipped masonry bit that was not aligned with the original cavity. The wings of the carbide would allow that to happen.

Top die is a Herter's Universal Neck Sizing die. It was the original "bushing die" as different neck sizing bushings could be bought for many calibers. You could also get full length "plugs" to FL size in the same die. There was a universal seating head that came with the die also. Basically you used the one die to reload a cartridge with. The set you see pictured is for ".32" which loads 8x57.It has the NS sleeve (bushing), a seating sleeve (plug) and a crimping sleeve.

It was worked on by a rough neck that was applying directional drilling techniques to his mould modification experience.

I cleaned it, smoked it, I even used mold release and the boolits still stick. Those XXX molds are no good. LOL
Think you can, or think you can't. Either way your right.
