I use this simple formula, Ideal number of powder horns = n + 1, where n is equal to the number you currently have.

I can imagine everything else >but< my wages going up & up these days. Some of those hand carved scrimshawed horns garner a pretty respectable price. Maybe above the price of a new traditions even?

Do you have any with a loob groove etched on it???
Old enough to know better, young enough to do it anyway!

As a matter of fact, I do! I'm trying to finish the scrimshaw on one today, and then I will put them up for sale. How many, will depend on how many boxes I have around to ship them in!
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

    I'm thinking 60-70 powder horns might be excessive . . . maybe.

If you think you need another one---you do. It might help to try to convince the better half that they are an investment for the future. You know, " the people who have the skill to make really lovely horns are getting fewer and fewer and the population just keeps growing", or make up your own story--I mean--logical reason. james
