Spring Turkey with a 131 Year Old Winchester

Love this rifle, a 38-40. Used it last deer season successfully, so decided to use it for spring turkey.

Called up and killed this ol' boy a ways north of the house. Compressed load of Swiss3Fg and a 192 gr. cast FN bullet from an RCBS mould.

    Beautiful! Rifle and Bird.
If we could use a rifle to turkey hunt here I'd be tempted to go. Looks like a barrel full of fun.

Great job! If they allowed rifles here, I'd probably have taken up turkey hunting by now.

It just doesn't get much better than that!

    Great job and rifle!

I sure wish GA allowed us to use rifles for turkeys.

Great job. That may well be the first turkey ever for that gun. Or not haha. Simply having an 1873 in huntable shape would be awesome.
    Best, Thomas.

Very nice! We can't use rifles for turkeys in Ala. But iffin' I had a rifle like that, I might try to get away with it!
