So I got a solenoid hooked up to the lead pour lever ($57), micro switch that actuates off the sprue cutter ($5), and a timed relay ($65 locally but much cheaper online) installed so lead pour is automated. Next step is a stand, then automating the lever.

Hatch was working in a system to do this exact thing to cater for users that still wanted to operate their machines by hand, but due to arthritis or just laziness, the addition of auto-pour could be added easily. I know for one, my thumb did get sore during big casting sessions.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the rest of the automation.
It took about 2 hrs to make my brackets. And another hour to wire it up
