A new addition to my safe

I broke down today and bought this rifle A Sharps Brochardt reproduction in 45-70 built by BRC. 32" half round barrel rifle weights 12 lbs Very nice walnut matching stock and forend. Blued receiver and barrel. Shotgun style butt. Attachment 192777Attachment 192779Attachment 192778
Trigger pull is around 12 ounces. Barrel is a BRC choked 1-18 twist so it should be a very good shooter.

A guy named Ken Lewis (aka Rafter3c) was testing that rifle and showing the groups fired. The data was posted on the ASSRA website, IIRC, and was quite impressive. You should have a real tack-driver there, congratulations!

Yes this was Ken Lewis's rifle. BRC is so backlogged right now He offered it to me. supposed to only have 40-50 rounds thru it.

They say that an ugly rifle that shoots well is beautiful. If that one shoots as well as it looks we're going to see you in the winners circle a lot. Fantastic find and a beautiful rifle. I'll be looking forward to hearing about it and how it does.

Rifle was shipped Friday. Its on the way to me probably be able to pick it up Tuesday or Wensday. They shipped the wood and barreled action in separate boxes to save on risk of damage.

Rifle is here and assembled now. Beautifull piece of wood on it. Tomorrow I will dig out the 45-70 dies and "test case" A case I made with split neck and 3/8" square window 3/8 below case neck. hand chamber some bullets and see how much powder I'm going to need. I'm Planning on testing the lyman 510 govt, Lyman 535 grn postel, and 550 grn Old west shilouette to start with. WIll probably start with 1 1/2f Olde Ensforde in my starline brass.

Sound like a good plan, I'm sure that one of those bullets will shoot lights out.
