The adventure of Air Arms TX200

Short story in as few words as I am able.

About two years ago I ordered and received Air Arms TX200
    Chose it based on reputation.
It shot very poorly and velocity was well below what was stated/rated.
Checked everything and worried over this and that.
    What could it be.

Two weeks ago I have had enough.
Sent it back to PA or Air Venturi on my dime + insurance. $$
I guess I am just out that.
Same outfit I guess. I get both letter heads.

Sales people are full of it. Avoid them.
Service Dept. Gene is 180 degrees to the great side.
He is interested, caring, wants to get it right.

    He received the rifle.
Found a number of things wrong, not the least of which was the barrel and shroud was loose.
He said it looked looked it was loose from day one but not 100% sure.
Not much chance for accuracy that way!

He repaired everything. Test fired and velocity checked, and he threw in some small stuff and free advise.
    He packed it all up.
    Send it back - Fed-Ex

Today I received it. FedEx had it leaning up by my garage door when I arrived home. $800 of rifle and scope.
    Box end ripped open.
    Mud and wet on end.
Rifle stock broken at wrist all the way through both sides but in place.

Called PA. Asked if sent with a Signature was required? "nope"
    Insured ? "Yes".
The PA return shipping specialist was monotone, brief, and acted uninterested.
    (maybe FedEx keeps him busy)
No mater, I don't need a shoulder, just a return shipping authorization.

So we'll see how this goes. If the claim makes it to Gene I think it could work out.
    Hopeful.

That's a real cluster f___! My TX200 in .177 is a fav. of mine, very accurate, although heavy......the things I don't like about it is the bear trap button and the limited access to loading port. It is a classic and mine has been free of any problems. The HW 97 of mine is also a keeper in .22, much easier to load and no bear trap release button......either way, once you get the TX200 in proper shape, you'll enjoy it like no other airgun (except for maybe the HW97).

What is it with FedEx and guns?
I suspect opportunistic thieves tear into packages hoping to find a firearm they can sell quickly and finding an old milsurp or airgun they can't easily move for big bucks or trade for dope they bust it and the package up to hide evidence of their tampering.

I'm thinking packages that look like guns of any type receive damaging level of handling by some of the carriers employees . . . Theft by some also.

    Just an opinion you understand

What I guess was a young lady called me while I was driving yesterday from Pyramyd air to let me know they had received the rifle return. She talked so fast and the connection was so bad, I could not understand her. I offered to call back later and did today. I tracked the rifle's return and knew it had arrived last Friday.

Their phone system is having trouble. Poor voice quality-hard to understand. Dropped calls. On hold until you give up and try back and select another option to get anyone to answer.

After four phone calls and a number of unhelpful sales people, I get her back. She called because she wonders why they have the rifle (no idea it is a damaged shipment return) and what are they supposed to do with it, she wonders?
I explain. (they do not talk with each other there I guess)
A few more (on holds) later. She said they will look into it.

Also said, they are real busy just now and it may be next week before they get a chance to look at it.
I'm thinking if they need to order a replacement stock from England, it would be nice to Look At It Long Enough to know the wrist is cracked in half and get on it now, and not next week. But, what can you do?

    Still hopeful......
Meanwhile, the fox squirrels eating my house siding, and giving me the finger.
