Agreed. I clean the slide with lighter fluid or Hoppe's No. 9. If there are any nicks or burrs on the corners they get dressed down with a light touch of a Swiss cut gunsmith grade file. Everything the slide touches needs to be kept clean and dry as well.

    Works for me, too.

The metal rod sounds great but would the additional weight cause a hazard in the event of a primer chain explosion? Don't think I would want a metal rod in the magazine if the space above the press is a living area. I do like that it shows how many are still in the magazine.

I agree nothing that would produce a spark!

    Thread drift on cast Boolits?
    Someone call the authorities.
    Think of the children.

Seriously, complaining about thread drift, on this board?

Thread drift by the original poster even.

In answer to a question that was asked.

I have seen it all now.

And it caused me to research the pw 800 a little.

Neat looking machine I had never heard of.

    I loves me some drift.

Thanks for the information Poacherjo. In shotshell reloading we are sandwiched between $2,000 Spolars and cheap erector set MEC's.
PW owners are a rare bird, you input is always appreciated. Hope you find the root cause of your problem.

I wasn't concerned about the rod making a spark. Most likely the spark or crush would initiate elsewhere but using brass would solve that. The risk is of the rod becoming a projectile after the primers detonate. The ability of a rod to penetrate into a living area is sobering.

As long as we're being watched by the thread drift police I have a Ponsness Warren 12/20 combo. Nice piece of machinery.
