    Need help identifing mauser carbine

    I just bought what I thought was a 33/40 alpine carbine but it does not have the metal around the butt-plate and the stock has traditional sling swivels instead of the slot. It was made by F.N. in Belgium and is in 8x57 does anybody know what it is? there is no model #
