    Bipod for a G2 Contender

Any suggestions, mostly for off the bench shooting.

I really like the Harris swivel leg notch bipods. You would want the 6" to 9" model.

I use a wedge off the bench like the one in the video. The wedge works very well with most types of supports for the front.

I have made several like this for bench use using this type front support a wedge. On mine I use a V cut shape. The shape of the one in the video is something I would not recommend. I had seen pictures of using a wedge and it looked like something I was not interested in. A few years back I purchased a complete Contender in 222 that came with this type of rest system. I works way better than I though it would.

I have a contender my father purchased many years ago. I put a 10 inch 30 Herrett barrel on the gun. Purchased a fore end from Boyds stocks for a Contender rifle. Cut the fore end back and used a Harris bipod. Made an aluminum pillar block from 1/2 inch diameter round bar stock.
The only part of the fore end touching the gun is the aluminum pillar block.
The screw location in the Boyds stock fit the 10 inch barrel but will not fit some other shorter barrels I have for the Contender.
Looks good and works very well.

I made a similar rest in college when I had no money. I measured, cut, and put it together. I even stained it to be cool.
I went to the range to fire my 44 Auto Mag for an upcoming IHMSA match. Looking good, I touched off a round and it sounded funny. I looked at my slick rest and I blown off the front of the rest. Works well now.
