Very recent auctions tested my nerves. There were molds on 2 auctions that spoke to me so I got busy and won both auctions. Here we go...

    (1) Lyman mold #429625. Lyman originally offered this pattern as a 2-mold kit. One mold cast the boolit's base and was intended to use a hard alloy for engaging the bore of the firearm. The second mold was for a "core" for a soft alloy that would fit into the hard alloy base, usually cemented in place. The goal was to have a soft expanding nose section over a firm base material. The core mold was absent in this auction but I had no interest in it anyway. The base mold uses a nose pin (as in making a HP boolit) to create a cavity to accept the nose section. The diameter and depth of the cavity in this mold's nose section looks like the boolit is yawning. I will experiment by adjusting the position of the nose probe in the mold to create a shorter or longer nose section. Nose length will be limited to allow loaded rounds to plunk into cylinder chambers. Powder charges will be appropriate for boolit weight. This mold should make lighter boolits even with nearly pure lead. The softer alloy used for these casts will not require heavy powder charges to generate nose expansion. Looking forward to testing these creations.

    (2) Lyman mold #41026. While advertised as a double cavity mold the pictures showed this is a single cavity. What helped reduce interest in this auction was that the seller did not display any pics of the mold cavity. I believe interest in a 41 caliber WC design is strong enough that buyer interest should have caused this sale to accelerate, but it did not. The mold comes with a set of handles that look excellent along with a second mold. Here is where the mystery begins. The seller gave NO information about that second mold. In all I won 2 sets of mold blocks and one set of handles, all for one money. I am happy enough to have the WC mold and handles, and hoping for Christmas with the mystery mold.

Picked up an Old Navy Arms steel one cavity for the Smith Carbine. Did I mention it's never been used. Can't wait to see what it drops at.

Two more “new” ones for me this week.

Both RCBS. First is a 32-98 SWC and the second is a eBay find 45-300 FN. It’s covered in surface rust. But inside blocks is clean but one spot. Hoping evapo rust cleans them.

Here we go again. Yesterday evening I bid on and won two (2) Ideal tong tools branded 25-20, both from the same seller One tool looks very clean and is complete. The second tool shows more wear and grunge around the outside of the mold cavity and is missing the sprue cutter and screws that hold it on the mold. Both molds show very clean mold cavities with no damage and sharp edges around the loob grooves. Both carry the same RF boolit design of the 89 grain +/- weight, both plain base. As for the missing sprue cutter I have an order in with KAL for three of these, already paid and waiting for their arrival. One is needed for a 311316 HP mold I bought a while back, one will go to the above 25-20 mold, and the last one is for "just in case".

I see the Slovenian fairy visited you today as well. I agree at first glance it is gorgeous and I am thankful for the craftsman that made this mold. I am cycling it as I type and hope to put it to use tomorrow afternoon or Saturday.

Sometimes I see a nice .476/.480 revolver mold and make myself turn away.
That way I won't need a muzzleloader rifle barrel to shoot it.

My RCBS 45-300 arrived last week. I dunked it in evapo rust last night. Haven’t pulled it out yet but should be like new when I do!

    Accurate #45-200E: Quick response

I ordered this in the late evening of 02/17.
    Acknowledgement received 02/18.
    Mold arrived today (02/22)

It's very similar to a shorter version of the Lee 45-230TC & is perfect for plinking/practice with my 25-2. This is my 3rd. Accurate mold : they're trouble free.

One of the LGS in my area has helped many local widows liquidate their diseased husband's reloading supplies. A large estate lot was put on the shelves this week. I found a Lee 401-175-TC six banger, w/o handles, on the shelf. The mold was covered in mold release and dirty. However I could find no real damage to the mold. There was no price tag, so I offered them $15.00 for it. After a bit of hemming and hawing they accepted my offer.

I will clean it up tomorrow. Weather permitting I may cast with it also. Fingers crossed. I hope it drops large enough.

    Ahh... I forgot.

I got a MP 452-200 HP four cavity.

I hope I have better luck with it than I did my NOE 453-193. The NOE is so fat I have to seat it really deep to chamber then because it's so short I have feeding problems with it.
