Well, I really lucked out today. Went and bought a box full of odds and ends of shooting stuff that was advertised locally for $40. There was mixed bag of .22 rimfire, old .38 S&W ammo, 12 gauge, .410's and 3 1/2" 10 gauge ammo. There was .38 Special brass and .44 Mag brass plus a bunch of pre-cast bullets in .44 some raw and some lubed and sized. The find of the day for me was that in that box was an old Lyman single cavity mould c/w handles in #429438, the 180 grain .44 calibre full wadcutter target bullet. I've wanted one of these for my S&W 624's in .44 Special for a while. Had a bit of surface rust on the mould and handles, but the cavity is clean and looks to be perfect. Happy, happy, happy ...

New never used Lyman 280473G. Never had a steel or iron mold before. It cast beautifully today. Unbelievably easy drop, perfectly aligned blocks. It heated quickly and I could maintain a quick pace with no overheating.

    sigep1764,
Some of the 280473 molds drop pretty large and will shoot in 7mm.
Had a rifle it shot great in while silver plating the bore with gobs of moly lube. Go figure.

Just bought my first brass mould from Old West. I bought a dual ignition Ballard in .44 rimfire a little while ago that came supplied with an adaptor cartridge to shoot black powder with .440" round balls using the percussion nipple. I thought I would go one better and I bought this .440" x .418" heeled .44 Henry rimfire mould to try in it instead of round balls. (The Ballard I bought slugs at .440" groove.) Hopefully this will give me better accuracy than with round balls. I'll make up some more cartridge adaptors so that I have more than one to work with and then I will get this old girl up to the range and barking again!

Not today but Wednesday of last week was a big day.

The postman delivered a package of 5 molds from Accurate Molds and a mold from NOE.

The Accurate molds are all 2 cavity irons. I really love these iron molds as they are fuss free.

    They are:
    31-170E for my.30-30
    31-200L for my .303 Brit
    38-250B for my .38-55
    38-355CG for my .375/444 Marlin
    43-220C for my 44-40

The NOE is a 360-183-RF GC for the .357 Maximum.

Being in Australia, shipping is expensive so i try to wait until i can spread the cost over multiple molds.

Picked up a NOE 359-172 WFN RG4. My third NOE. I’m used to Miha’s Cramer style so there’s always a bit of a learning curve for me with NOE’s HP molds. Delightfully I had zero issues with boolits sticking in the mold.

Thanks! Last week I finally received my MP 357-147 RN from a group buy after about a month in transit.

Hopefully your order will arrive much quicker!

This morning I got 2 moulds that i designed and had Tom at Accurate Molds make for me.

Tom added them to his catalog as 43-219S and 43-219SG. They are primarily designed for use in my 44-40's but should work great in an other .44 cal.
They combine the best elements of 3 other moulds that i have. The idea is to have a boolit that can be used with traditional lubes or coated. Is easy to load and crimp and functions well in my lever actions. Hopefully they'll shoot as good as they look.

I wasted no time prepping the moulds, casting, lube sizing and loading some rounds for testing tomorrow.

I got a 30 cal mold from NOE it is a HP 4 cavity. Tried it out on Sunday not much luck in the percentage rate of good bullets. I even smoke the mold. Change from long hp to the shorter ones those seamed to work better. Had to run the lead mix rely hot like 650 to get it to work at all. Mix is two ingots of WW and one pure lead from sticky WW and Pewter
Any hints on what to do is much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Picked up a single cavity Lyman 225462 at Grafs this morning along with some 38 Special dies. I don't own a 38 special. I now need one. The 225462 is gonna be tested in my AR once I get some 223 gas checks.
