    Keep or sale/trade?

I bought this Remington 887 tactical on an impulse buy last December. I was intrigued at the anti rust armor coating that's some type of plastic/nylon material. And the fact that it's a threaded barrel and chambered for 3.5".

Was wanting to work up mid/long range buck shot loads for it. It's still new and in the box. Wondering if I should trade or hang on to it.

    What say ye?

They rust under the plastic. As long as you never take it out in the rain it will be OK. Otherwise, it will end up rusting on you.

So how do you ever know it's rusting?

tomme boy is DEAD ON, Personally I would not want one of these, the gun is inside of a non removable shell, get it wet and rust will follow.

Its Unlikely you ever will know. All you can do is clean and oil what you can get to. Unless they used a serious anti rust/corrosion resistant stuff on the steel before they covered it with a shell, it will rust.

Another thing lots of folks don't realize is Stainless Steel and Rust, Stainless is EXACTLY how it is spelled, 'Stain Less' No pun intended its the truth. Stainless will DEFINITELY rust, it just takes a bit more abuse before it does. Some Stainless is nothing more than a joke, The Stainless used in firearms is low grade stuff, Tikka T3 Stainless rifles will Stain/rust every bit as easy as a blued gun unless they have recently changed there material? I have owned several of them and they were no more durable than a blued gun. Not all Stainless is created equal, i have seen some EXTREMELY durable and resistant to rust/corrosion stuff, and others that are not any different than blued.

I'd list it on your local craigslist as a rare item and get one of the local mall ninja's to come pick it up and move on.

If you are asking, you are already having buyers regret. Sell it.

I have never ever understood why anyone would want a tactical shotgun with 3 1/2" chambers.

What R5R says, unless your entering a combat zone. I an change the barrel on my 500 clone in less than a minute and I don't need 3 1/2" or sights for SD..
    Whatever!

I don't have buyers regret. Actually, I forgot that I had this gun until my wife found it underneath the bed when we were prepping our house to sell.

The main purpose I bought it was for hog control. That's why I liked the choked barrel. I already have a UTAS for HD.

Maybe I'll post here locally for trade. Could use another 590 for an "ideal" I have.
