I'm 6 weeks shy of 70 years old and its getting harder to backpack, but this week I took off, loaded up a light 25 lb. pack and snow shoe'd in to my cabin up in the North Central Cascades. The cabin is 3 miles in from the point were I had to leave my truck. Its up hill all the way and the snow was 3ft deep; it took 2-1/2 hours to hike in. It was a great hike, through beautiful still woods. Some deer and coyote and rabbit tracks could be seen. The cabin was in excellent condition and it only took a short time to get a fire burning and to warm the place up.
My hiking days are numbered, I know but I don't feel like quitting yet. t
