    45/70 again

Two or three years ago I bought 6 or 8 hundred 350 grain berrys bullets from a member here and have not done anything with them yet.
I am thinking I should start running them through a couple of Marlins before they go bad.

Where would you start, think easy on the shoulder plinking loads that would be capable of taking a black bear if one happened to get in the way?
The box says to limit velocity to 1700 fps, but I don't think they need pushed that fast.

With 350 grain Hornady jacketed bullets from a Marlin 1985, my best loads were right at 1,500 fps with IMR 3031 powder. Remarkable accuracy with the Hornady brand and great ballistic uniformity with the IMR 3031 powder.
    Keep your powder dry,

I do have 3031 among others. I do not have trailboss, and not a lot of unique.
I do have quite a bit of 4759, 2400, red dot even a few pounds of 4198.

I shoot all my 45-70 bullets at around 1400fps regardless of the weight. I simply like to shoot the gun without getting a beating in the process. There are a lot of good powders to get velocities in the range of 1300-1500fps and get very good accuracy while you're doing it. You're sitting on two of them right now, the 4759 and 2400. I use 2400 a lot and it gives outstanding accuracy in all of my guns in that caliber.
