wjp, I have one of those old Redding plum colored powder measures. Very smooth operating measure. My uncle passed it on to my dad when he died and I got it after dad died. My uncle started reloading in the 50's and he got me interested in the late 50's. I have been reloading since. I also have an RCBS powder measure. Both load very accurately on pistol loads, which is what they are used for mostly. I do use the Redding for rifles occasionally. james

I really need to quit hoarding I mean collecting. I haven't even used the ones in the pictures and probably have close to 40 measures. I keep telling myself they aren't eating anything and they all have their own purpose. Are they any better or worse than the newer 3br? Don't really let go of my B&M stuff or Star but I do need to draw the line somewhere.

As to whether they are any more accurate than the newer ones, I can't say. They are the only powder measures I have owned that I can remember. Once mine are adjusted they stay adjusted until I make a change of powder or different weight. I check weight at least every 10th round and if operating close to the maximum charge weight, every round. I rarely have to adjust a charge and then usually no more than 1/10 grain. If I have to adjust, it is nearly always for being 1/10 grain light, never over. I like it that way. james

Are they still making NEW powder measures? I think my newest measure is a Lyman Accu-Measure made some time back in the ‘70s or ‘80s. They really don’t seem to wear out and my 1900 vintage Ideal measure still works just as well as ever.
