    Some OLD bullets

The box of Remington bullets is unopened, so unsure if soft point or fmj. Kind of strange that they would be for Winchester, Marlin or Savage rifles, but nothing on Remington rifles even though they are Remington bullets.

Any idea on how old these might be?

Guessing from other old boxes I have 1900-1920 approximately.

Some one else posted a similar box of bullets here. I remeber the box had "metal patched" still makes me giggle. 30 cal 170gr can be used for reloading 3030 or 30wcf of that era.

The Remingtons have to predate the Model 8 semi which was introduced in 1906.

The Remington bullets will be what would today be called "Full Metal Jacketed", since there is no call out for soft point. Also, that box will date from 1911 to 1915. It was not until 1911 that Remington Arms Co. and Union Metallic Cartridge Co. merged to be known as "The Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Company". Beginning in 1911 the address on boxes was "Union Metallic Cartridge Works, Bridgeport, Conn., U.S.A." Beginning in 1916, the address on boxes for ammunition and components was changed to "U.M.C. Bridgeport Works, etc."
