Same thing. Great round!
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!
They are the exact same round. And an awesome round at that might I add. Europeans marked there 7mm mausers as rigby. Good find. You should get it if the price seems fair to you. You won't be sorry.
just ordered one + its stanless

Calling it .275 Rigby in a modern American cartridge is gilding the lily a bit. I suppose Ruger might have done something to make it a bit different from the standard 7x57, such as a different twist or throat to make it better suited for the heavy round-nosed bullets which were often used. But that would just be a marketing thing, since the standard specification was fine for these bullets of moderate velocity, which although now unfashionable probably got the best out of the cartridge.
It led the field around the time they perfected the modern bolt-action rifle, and is famous as the rifle with which WDM Bell shot the largest number of his 1011 elephant. Jim Corbett liked as a tiger rifle. He would choose a .400/.450 for what he knew would be close-quarter jungle work, but that was what of us would call closer than close to a maneater which knew the business, and he wasn't much worried about finding himself with the Rigby.
Marketing & hype Ballistics, you nailed it. Just cashing in on the John Rigby's name. A rose by any other name.....
