I've used 165gr cast with 4gr 231/hp38 for a 'target' load. Should be well over minor PF but easy to handle in XDm 40, very accurate and goes end-to-end through a pig. No spring change either. My grandson was shooting it a couple years ago (~12 yrs old), no real problem.
    Whatever!

when I had a 40 I started out using 4.5 gr of 231 with a lee 175 swc bullet , I always thought that was a pretty light load for a 40 . later on I stepped up to 5.6 or 5.8 gr of herco I cant remember which either way it was on the strong side

I doubt you could even fit enough in the case for the slide to even function

Try 4 grains Bullseye under any 160-180 grain boolit. My Glock 22 eats that with a 175 grain Lee all day, easy to shoot and very accurate. Clocks around 900 fps so you could certainly use this load for social work if you had to.
    Currently casting and loading: .32 Auto, .380 Auto, .38 Special, 9X19, .357 Magnum, .257 Roberts, 6.5 Creedmoor, .30 WCF, .308 WCF, .45-70.

The accuracy I'm getting from 4.4 to 4.6 gr unique and a lee 175 is outstanding.

    Im @ 3" shooting offhand @ 35 yards. Or 1" @ 7yards..
